I admit it- I liked Twilight!

When Mike and I first heard that they were making a movie of twilight, I was really excited, but Mike said, "don't get excited, you'll be disappointed." When the trailers started coming out, I watched them, but Mike didn't. He said, " You'll be disappointed." When the movie came out, Mike said he wanted to wait until the hype was done before we saw it, and was expecting to be disappointed. I knew that it would be different from the book but I was hopeful that it would have at least some of the excitement that I felt when I read the book.

When Missi saw it Friday and came back telling me it was bad, I continued to want to see it, but wasn't in any hurry. It just so happened, though, that my wonderful mother offered to babysit Saturday night and I was in the mood to go see a movie. I didn't necessarily want to see Twilight, but I love movie theater experiences. When I looked to see what was playing, there wasn't anything but Twilight. I asked Mike if we could see it, and he said that if we got tickets and the lines weren't long, he wouldn't mind going. I was able to get tickets and there wasn't a line, so everything was going well.

As the movie progessed, Mike and I would decide every ten minutes that the movie was good SO far, and we'd just have to keep watching to see if it went downhill. At the end, we weren't disappointed, to Mike's surprise. Granted, the vampire's skin was sometimes too pale and the skin-in-the-sun thing was cheesy as well as the vampire's quick movement. All in all, though, I thought the actors did a good job of portraying the tension between the two, especially from Edward, as they struggled to come together in a situation where they should be staying apart (the magnet analogy).

Anita's Strange New Habit

Anita has developed a strange new habit while at the grocery store. The past few times we have gone to the produce aisle at the grocery store, Anita runs to the cabbage, rips a leaf off before I can catch her, and eats it. She never takes lettuce, only cabbage. I have never even offered cabbage to her at home, so I have no idea why she does it. At least she eats it all, I guess.

Caramel Apple

I am in the Young Women's presidency in my ward, and yesterday we had Young Women in Excellence. Our theme was apples, so the leaders gave each young woman a caramel apple. There ended up being extras, so I got to take one home. The girls were so excited to try it. They kept bugging me about it all morning and we finally ate it. I cut it up into slices so that it would be easier to eat.

As they were eating the apples, I realized that how they each ate the apple told a lot about their individual personalities. Abigail held onto the apple with as little contact as possible. I think if it was any more sticky she would have required a fork (she is known to eat rice krispy treats with a fork!). She ate only the apple at first, unsure of the caramel. She ended up eating the whole thing and quickly ran to the bathroom as soon as she was done to wash her hands. She didn't want anymore.

Anita, on the other hand, ate all the caramel off her apple as fast as she could. It wasn't until I told her she couldn't have another piece until she finished the whole thing that she started eating the apple. She had two pieces and would have eaten more if her mommy hadn't eaten it all first! =)

I got the girls together to take this picture to post and Abigail kept closing her eyes. I told four pictures before she finally could keep her eyes open. I kept telling her to keep her eyes open, so that is why she had the wide eyed look in the picture.

First Snow!

Here are the girls last week basking in the first snow of the season. They were so excited! Abigail wanted to make a snowman out of a 1/8 inch of snow. They had a lot of fun running around and throwing snow at each other.

Abigail- Fashion Designer?

Abigail "created" her first pair of shoes today. One of her favorite things to do is take my fabric scraps and pin them together. She makes necklaces, hats, and anything else she can think of. Today she made shoes, which I thought were very cute.

Abigail's and Anita's Vocabulary

Here are a couple of interesting phrases that the girls have said in the past couple of days. They are so refined! =)

I was getting dinner ready yesterday and Abigail said, "Is daddy going to join us?"

When it's time for prayers, the girls both want to say it. When daddy chooses who is going to say it, Anita always says, "go ahead, Abigail" or "go ahead, mommy" or whoever he picks to says it.

One of Abigail's new favorite songs is "There ain't no bugs on me", except she sings it, "The rainbow bugs on me"

An Odd Place to Nap

I put the girls down for their nap this afternoon and, as always, it took them a little while to stop playing and go to sleep. They finally did but it wasn't too much later before Anita started crying in her sleep. I went to check on her, and I couldn't find her anywhere. She wasn't in her bed or Abigail's, but I could hear her in that general area. I finally found her asleep UNDER the bed. Luckily, I was able to get her out from under the bed and put her in her own bed without waking her up completely and she went right back to sleep.

This is for you, Steve

Yesterday, in Wal-mart, we turned onto an aisle where a soldier was shopping. Abigail said, "Wow, look at him!". The man heard and stopped to talked to her. Another soldier who was shopping with them walked up and started talking to them too. I mentioned that their uncle Steve used to be in the Marine Reserves and went overseas a few years ago. One of them asked Abigail what your rank was and neither of us could tell him. He told Abigail to ask you, so I am doing it for her benefit. I asked Mike later and he said you were a sergeant, but I wanted to share this story and confirm.

Today I am thankful for... todays. So often in life we go through our days wishing we were at some point in our future. Maybe, when we have a break or have graduated from school, or when the kids start or go back to school, or grow up and move away. At that point, you think, your life can "begin". However, you are very likely going to get to that point and start wishing you were back at that point in your past. Whether you are looking to your past or your future, you're not being happy with your today. Today is that only point we have and we need to be happy about our todays.

I have caught myself looking at my current struggles in life and wishing that I could go forward to days that are easier. I had a thought today, though, that when I get to that point, I will be wishing I could go back to this time. Yes, life is hard, but life is also SO good. My daughters are so sweet and I love to be with them. My husband is caring and hardworking and he is truly my best friend. We have a home to live in and food to eat. We have money to pay our bills each month. I have the gospel of Jesus Christ and a testimony of Him that carries me through anything that can come my way. I know that He is aware of all of us and that He loves us. He knows what we are struggling with and it is through these challenges that we can become like Him.

Things I am Thankful For

I am thankful for my wonderful grandma Joy. She came over to my house at 6:30 this morning to watch my kids. When I got home at 10 AM, my house was clean, my dishes washed, and my floors vacuumed. She fits her name perfectly because she is a joy to me.

Each day, I would like to share some of the things that I am thankful for, to help me remember how truly blessed I am.


1) I am thankful for my dear husband Michael. He works so hard for our family and is a great father. I am thankful for his patience and understanding with my sometimes uptight and worry-filled personality.

2) I am thankful for Abigail. She is so obedient and good.

3) I am thankful for Anita. She is so happy and energetic.
